DIY Paver Walkway Project Completed!

I'm so thrilled to share some photos of our completed paver walkway project.  This has been a LONG time coming.  My sweet husband did all the work himself between his work schedule and while the weather permitted.  The month of June was a bust. We had so much rain!  I patiently looked at my pallets of pavers sitting by the walkway for over a month before he could get to the project.  Well, it was totally worth the wait!

Here is a photo of what it looked like before.  I shudder to think about it...  We had just replaced all the rotted porch decking and supports. This was before we painted and brought out some of the trim details on the house.  The poor old house looked so sad :-(

But it's happy now!

I'll be posting the information on how my husband built these walkways in another post.  It is back breaking work but it can be done and it saves a TON of money!  I'm so thankful that my husband could do this project.  It really changes the entire curb appeal of the house.

New Walkway Project - a perfect way to ruin a long holiday weekend

This Memorial Day weekend the Hubby and I are going to start our walkway project.  We've already had the paving company that worked on our driveway, rip out the old asphalt walkways and prep the base.  We ordered Techo-Bloc in shale gray from our local stone dealer which is being delivered this week (just in time to ruin our long weekend).  This is not an inexpensive project but we are saving more than half by attempting the labor ourselves.  The cost for the Techo-Bloc was $4.51 a sq. ft. and we also had to order polymer sand, concrete dust, side caps and spikes.  Total in materials will run about $1,600 to do 255 sq ft of walkway = $6.28 per sq. ft.

The photo above shows the pavers we ordered from Techo-Bloc and look we are hoping to achieve.  Fingers crossed!!

The walks are prepped and ready to start our project.

Wish us luck!  We'll be posting pictures of our progress, trials and tribulations!
